This National Sandwich Day, Let Me Diagnose Your Sandwich Needs

In Depth

It’s National Sandwich Day, and while that might be a fake holiday, given that every day is technically a sandwich day, it’s certainly one worth celebrating—that is, if you have the right accoutrement to do so.

One of the best things about sandwiches is that they’re so amenable to the odds and ends you might have already stashed in your fridge. So tell me; what do you have lying around? Is it a random bottle of fig jam you forgot about in the back of the fridge? Did you make a roast chicken earlier this week and there are some bits leftover? What kind of cheese did you swipe from the hors d’oeuvres portion of that office party you technically weren’t invited to? Give me a list of your potential ingredients and let’s brainstorm today’s sandwich together.
