How to Make the Cheap Enlightenment, a Road to True Happiness Via Tequila

In Depth

Welcome to Boozinette. This is the Cheap Enlightenment.

  • 2 oz tequila reposado
  • 3/4 oz grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 oz habañero syrup
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • seltzer
  • 2 habañero peppers
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Remove stems from peppers and slice ‘em up. In a small saucepan, bring all ingredients to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. Strain, contain, let cool and refrigerate. Use to add a little heat to any drink accompanied by tepid conversation.

Pour all liquid ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake like a magic 8 ball for 10-12 seconds. Strain into a Collins glass over ice. Top with soda and remember that there are more stars in the universe than we can count. You can be one too. Sign up for my newsletter to learn how. Click now.
